Here are some tips for speeding up Outlook:
- Run our Setup Tool - even if you already have Outlook connected and running. You can find the tool here: http://www.123together.com/Downloads/OLSetupv3.exe. (Note: This tool will modify the registry entry to access the configuration file which will be deployed by the setup tool.) Select "Open" and follow the prompts. Check the "Update host file setting and Outlook Plug-In only" box on the first screen of the wizard.
- Disable integration of Instant Messaging in Outlook. From within Outlook go to Tools > Options > Other. Ensure that "Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook" is unchecked.
- Make the following registry change to speed up the startup and operation of Outlook: click here to download the file and execute it. In Internet Explorer, choose "Open" after clicking on the link. Accept the warning prompt about importing data into the registry. NOTE: Make this registry change only if your network is primarily running TCP/IP protocol. Ask your system administrator if you're uncertain about the type of protocol you use.
- Update Outlook and Office with the latest patches. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/default.aspx; click "Check for Updates" and follow the instructions to install the latest patches and updates.
- For Outlook 2002 and 200 customers turn off the preview pane and enable AutoPreview. Select "View" > "Current View" > "Messages with AutoPreview".
