Setup BlackBerry for Exchange

  1. From the User List page, click on the drop-down arrow next to your user name and choose “BlackBerry”.  Click Enable BlackBerry Service.
  2. Do a "Wipe" on your handheld.  NOTE: Any changes made on the handheld that have not been synched to your Outlook will be lost. Do not do a Wipe if you have unsynchronized data on your handheld.

To do a Wipe: Click Settings > Options > Security.  Press the trackwheel; on the pop-up menu select Wipe Handheld and follow the prompts.
  3. Disable server-side spam filtering by:
    1. Logging into WebMail.
    2. Click "Options" on the bottom left.
    3. Uncheck "Filter Junk Email".
    4. Click Save and Close at the top.
  4. Close any Microsoft Outlook clients that you currently have open.

  5. Make sure that you have a strong signal on the handheld by going to Settings > Options > Status > Signal. For a successful activation, it should be between 0 and -90. If not, please find a location which is between 0 and -90.

  6. On your handheld, go to Enterprise Activation on the main screen and enter:
    • Email Address: Your Primary email address (You@YourDomain.com)
    • Password: This can be found on the BlackBerry page of the Control Panel and is different from your email password.
  7. If your MX records do not point to our server use your alternate email address instead of your primary email address.  To locate your alternate email address, go to the User List page, click on the drop down arrow and choose “Outlook Setup”.
  8. Press the trackwheel and choose Activate from the pop-up menu.
  9. If you have not successfully activated 2 or 3 times, please go to our BES troubleshooting guide.
  10. Over the next few minutes, your handheld will download a new service book and start synchronizing your PIMs (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, & Notes) wirelessly.
  11. Enable server-side spam filtering by
    • Logging into WebMail.
    • Click "Options" on the bottom left.
    • Check "Filter Junk Email".
    • Click Save and Close at the top.
