Adding Recover Deleted Items Option to Non-Mail Folders

If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2010, you will not find the Recover Deleted Items button when clicking on a non-mail items folder (such as contacts and calendar). Using the instructions below, you can add the Recover Deleted Items icon to the Folder section of your Ribbon for all folders regardless of the data they contain.

As shown below, the “Recover Deleted Items” icon can be found in the Folder section of a mail item folder.

When a non-mail item folder is viewed (calendar, contacts, etc…), the Recover Deleted Items icon is no longer available.

So how can you recover these non-mail items that may have been deleted?

  1. In Microsoft Outlook 2010 click File then click the Options button.
    3
  2. On the right-hand side of your screen, add a New Group under the main tab called Folder. Once created, you are able to right click on it and rename the new group.
    4
  3. Change the “Choose Commands From” to “All Commands”. Then scroll down and select “Recover Deleted Items”. Choose “Add” to add this option to your newly created group.
    5
  4. Click OK.

You will now see your new group and the “Recover Deleted Items” icon in the Folder tab on all folders.
